Footprints Newsletter – August

Welcome to Footprints, the monthly newsletter published by Titus 2 Academy. Here you will find important updates and information about our school and homeschooling in Tennessee, insightful guidance in the Counselor’s Corner, entertaining student stories and activities in the Kid’s Corner, and sage advice  and stories in Words of Wisdom.

Our fine feathered friend, Einstein, will also guide you through Q&As and help you with G.A.P.—our Grades, Attendance, and Portfolio website.

We are so thankful for our new families and we will do our very best to not only meet your needs but bless your lives as well. This month we want to draw your attention to the G.A.P. Academic Portal. If you haven’t done so already, please get the GAP App on your phone. It’s so EASY! On the Titus 2 Academy Home page, click on G.A.P. Login. Scroll down to the instructions for how to add the app to your phone. Your phone may be a little different, but when you are on that page with your iPhone, you can click on the Share or Upload button (box with the arrow pointing up in the middle bottom of the screen) and then select Add to Home Screen. On an Android, you’ll click on the 3 dots in the top right corner.

We use the app all the time – once you’ve logged in, you can click on Family Login and it takes you directly to the Portal, where you can read previous Footprints Newsletters, view the Welcome Letter, Family Handbook, Important Forms (including the Proof of Enrollment and Teacher Verification, Proof of Enrollment for Work and Sports, DL forms), ID cards, and Homeschool Resources. You will also see the RED buttons, where you can request a transcript and make portfolio entries for your high schooler. You will not need to submit attendance or grades until after the fall semester. Please click on the YELLOW Contact Counselor button if you need help or have questions. We’re here to help!!

If you like the website and G.A.P., how about giving Amber a huge Shout Out for designing it, as well as working pretty much round the clock these days keeping everything running smoothly!

KID’S CORNER

FUN INFORMATION – for all ages!

The owl is our school mascot – Einstein is our favorite owl! If you are wondering WHY, here are some facts about owls. I think you’ll begin to see some connections between owls and scripture.

Personality Traits and Symbolic Meanings Attached to Owls – Followed by SimilarTruths from God’s Word.

  • Wisdom & Knowledge – A reminder of intelligence, experience, and thoughtful decision-making. {“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” – Proverbs 1:7}
  • Intuition & Perception – The owl sees in the dark, symbolising clarity when others are clouded by confusion. {“Anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going because the darkness has blinded them.” – 1 John 2:11}
  • Independence – Owls are solitary hunters, making them a symbol of self-reliance. {“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:31}
  • Mystery – Often linked to the unseen, owls represent curiosity about the unknown. {“My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” – Colossians 2:2-3}

“Unlike many birds, the owl does not rely on speed or spectacle. It waits, observes, and acts with purpose. For this reason, owl symbolism is often associated with quiet confidence, patience, and the wisdom that comes from experience rather than impulse. An owl reminds us that we do not always need to have all the answers immediately; sometimes wisdom comes from pausing, observing, and trusting our instincts. {Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.” – Proverbs 14:29, “Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end, you will be counted among the wise.” – Proverbs 19:20}

AUGUST CHALLENGE

Einstein is always asking those pesky WHOO questions. This month, he wants to know WHO will teach the younger men and women those things God wants them to know, about how to act and what to do to honor Him. (Hint: the answer is found in our school’s name.)

BIBLE VERSE OF THE MONTH – Isaiah 43:19

Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even put a road in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert.

What NEW THING is God doing in your life this month?

WORDS OF WISDOM CORNER

This month we want to spotlight a man who exemplifies the older man in Titus 2:2 “Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in steadfastness.”

Craig Hane, the creator of Triad Math, has spent his life teaching others how to love and understand mathematics. At 88 years young, he could be sitting back in his easy chair, sipping on some sweet tea, listening to the birds’ sweet songs. But he believes so passionately that his mission in life is not done yet, that he continues what he started at the age of five – teaching others math concepts in an easy way that they can understand.

Both Pat and Lani (two of the four counselors) have ordered this course for themselves. One also has a grandson who wants to be an engineer, so he is starting Triad Math in the 8th grade. Since students go at their own pace, they can start any time they are ready, whether it’s 7th grade or 12th grade. It can be used as a total math program or to supplement another curriculum. We are excited to start the new school year learning something NEW!!

You may want to check out this curriculum which has a different approach and has proven to help build confidence and strength in the area of math, preparing students more soundly for ACT, college, military, the workforce and future careers, and engineering colleges. There are many, many testimonials on his website.

HOME BUSINESS CONFERENCE IN THE SPOTLIGHT!

Hi there!  If you’re looking for fresh inspiration, practical training, and a community of families building meaningful home-based businesses, We’d love for you to join us at the upcoming Homeschool Business Conference in Alabama. Titus 2 Academy and Homeschool Counseling Team are excited to help sponsor this event and you can SAVE $50 per family when you register using our code HCT.

From Pat Wesolowski –

Twenty-four years ago, we attended Rhea Perry’s first entrepreneurial conference and we made one of our sons attend with us. He had to miss several scheduled events that weekend in order to attend the seminar so he wasn’t happy at first. But, once the speakers started speaking, he was hooked.  He’s a successful entrepreneur today. In fact, all nine of my kiddos are entrepreneurs.  I will be at Rhea’s upcoming event this month with the rest of the members of the Homeschool Counseling Team.  We would love to have you join us and if you use the code HCT you will save $50. Children are not only welcomed at this event, they are encouraged to attend. It is truly a homeschooling family event.
