Lani Carey

Principal & Counselor

Lani Carey began homeschooling in 1990 and has graduated her 4 children and 3 grandkids so far! From 1996 to 2020, she helped startup and direct many tutorials, as well as H.I.S. Co-op, which she directed for 10 years and taught a variety of classes to all ages, from physics to ballet. She developed a high school English curriculum for high school students with learning disabilities, and for students who were not considered at a high school level in reading and/or writing abilities. Lani was a high school guidance counselor for 21 years at a well-known umbrella school, where she started many programs for homeschoolers, from NCAA eligibility to military and military academy admissions. She has been a conference speaker in the homeschool community since 1997, as well as doing webinars, hands-on workshops, podcasts, reels, YouTube videos, blogs and articles about homeschooling. She has vast experience in working with families around the globe and enjoys working with parents of high schoolers, but also loves sharing about how children learn, the value of play, unschooling, and giving parents the vision of homeschooling.

Pat Wesolowski

Counselor

Pat Wesolowski is an author, speaker, and homeschooling mother of 9, who was previously the Homeschool Specialist at Bryan College in Dayton, TN.   After homeschooling her 9 children for the past 32 years, she is finally finished!   Pat has a heart for helping parents find joy in their homeschooling experience and, for that reason, loves teaching workshops in order to encourage and equip parents for a fun and successful homeschool experience.    Pat is the host of a podcast entitled “The Homeschool Specialist,” writes a blog, and has authored numerous unit studies for homeschooled students.  Pat has written a free E-Resource to help parents plan for a successful high school experience.

Margie Abbitt

Counselor

Margie Abbitt has been married to her best friend, Mac, for over 40 years.  They homeschooled their “Brady Bunch” of 3 boys and 3 girls. Margie homeschooled in several different states using a variety of curriculum and teaching methods to meet the needs of many diversified students. She especially enjoys a unit study / hands-on approach to teaching, because learning should be fun and active. Margie has organized, led, and taught in co-ops/tutorials for about 25 years. Margie has the privilege of working with families and students from many varied backgrounds, learning styles and challenges as an academic counselor. As a speaker and author, Margie continues to share her passion for helping parents/grandparents navigate their homeschool experience while encouraging them in their homeschooling journey.

Marta Weaver

Counselor

Marta is a homeschooling mom. She and her husband have just graduated their youngest daughter! Their homeschooling years were filled with joys, challenges and above all God’s faithfulness! The Weaver family is thankful for the homeschool community that has over the years shared wisdom and encouragement and friendship. Working together with like-minded families in coops, tutorials and other settings has enriched their family’s life in many ways. Marta is thankful for the years she was able to be a stay-at-home homeschool mom, but her story also includes working part-time as a respiratory therapist, health educator and homeschool academic counselor while homeschooling. Marta values opportunities to hear the unique stories of homeschool families and bring encouragement and practical help for their journey.
